VPS-4 is the plan most people should start on and the one we recommend by default. The cores are Ampere ARM rather than x86 — the right machine for anything installed from your distribution’s packages, the wrong one if you ship an x86 binary. Four cores mean the web server and the database are not fighting over one, and 80 GB of NVMe leaves room for the site to grow before the disk becomes the conversation.

Where VPS-4 is the right size.

Four Ampere cores, eight gigabytes: a production site with its database beside it.

A production site earning money: PHP or Node in front, MySQL or PostgreSQL behind, both on the same machine with headroom to spare.
A handful of small sites on one box: Several low-traffic sites behind one reverse proxy, each with its own database, sharing 3 TB of transfer.
A container stack: A Docker Compose file with an app, a database, a cache and a proxy fits inside 4 GB if the images are lean.

Line

VPS-4 sits on the Standard line. Cores on this line are shared with other tenants on the same host. Bursts are quick; an hour pinned at 100% is not something a shared core can promise.

Why is this the recommended size?

Because it is the smallest plan where a normal web stack has a second core to fall back on. Most support tickets about a slow site on VPS-1 or VPS-2 end with the same advice, so we print it up front instead.

Can I move up from VPS-4 without rebuilding?

Yes. Resizing to a larger plan happens in place from the panel and keeps the same IP address. Resizing down needs a rebuild, because the disk has to shrink.
