No private networking between servers: traffic between two of your own servers uses their public addresses
Regions cannot be changed in place; moving means a new server and a DNS cutover
Prepaid terms are not pro-rated if you destroy the server early

A CI runner: Build times stop varying by time of day, which is the whole point of reserving cores in the first place.
A game server: Tick rates hold steady under load because no other tenant can steal the core mid-frame.
Video or audio encoding: Long jobs at 100% CPU are exactly the workload shared vCPU is not sold for.

DC-8 sits on the Dedicated CPU line. Cores on this line are pinned to your machine and never shared, so sustained load runs at the same speed at 3pm as it does at 3am.

Why does DC-8 cost more than BD-8 with fewer cores?

You are paying for exclusivity, not for the count. Two pinned cores at $71.90 can be relied on for hours; four shared cores at $12.90 are quicker in bursts and unpredictable under sustained load.

Does pinning change anything else about the server?

No. Same KVM platform, same images, same kind of SSD storage, same network, same panel. The only difference is that the cores are reserved.
