Not here: the Unmetered line, dedicated machines (Germany only). A line missing here runs somewhere; the plan pages say where, rather than sending you in a circle.

Choosing a city

Our 2 regions in Japan, compared

Distance to your users decides first. Price decides second, and it does move: C4-8-150 is $49.90 a month in Tokyo and $162.90 in Osaka, because the platform behind each region is not the same one. Every row below prints that region's own figure — there is no averaged price to be surprised by later.

Questions

Questions about hosting in Japan

Which city should I choose for a VPS in Japan?
Pick by where your users are first — that is the only reason to host in Japan at all — and by price second. Today Tokyo is both the cheapest entry point, at $9.90 a month, and the widest choice, with 110 plans. Region does move the price — C4-8-150 is $49.90 in Tokyo and $162.90 in Osaka, because the platform behind each region differs — so compare the table rather than assuming one figure covers the country. If you genuinely cannot tell, deploy the smallest plan by the hour in each and measure from where your users are.
How much does a Japanese VPS cost?
From $9.90 a month for VPS-1. There are 110 plans across our 2 Japanese regions. The price on the deploy screen is the price you pay: no setup fee, and the renewal is the same figure as the first month — we do not use an introductory rate that jumps later.
How fast will a server in Japan be delivered?
Minutes, not hours. The build starts the moment payment clears — the machine is created, given its address and a root password, and the details appear in your account without anyone having to be awake. If a build fails it is retried and a person is told; you are not left refreshing a page.
Do I need to be in Japan to buy one?
No. There is no residency requirement and no local company needed — you order online from anywhere and the server is in Japan. What we do ask is that you use it lawfully in the country it sits in: the machine is subject to Japan law wherever you happen to be sitting.
Do you have dedicated servers in Japan?
No. Our dedicated line-up is built in Germany only, and we would rather say so than take an order we cannot fill. In Japan the honest options are the virtual platform, or a dedicated machine in Germany with a Japanese instance in front of it.
Can I move a Japanese server to another city later?
Not in place — a server lives in the region it was built in. What you can do is deploy the new one, move your data, and destroy the old one; on hourly billing the overlap costs a few cents. If you are unsure which region is right, that is an argument for starting hourly rather than committing to a month.
