BD-48 sits on the Value line. Cores on this line are shared with other tenants on the same host. Bursts are quick; an hour pinned at 100% is not something a shared core can promise.

These are the questions this plan actually gets, answered without the marketing round-off.

BD-48 or DC-16 at twice the price?
DC-16 is $94.90 for four cores that are pinned to you and never contended — buy it when the workload is constant and per-core predictability is the requirement. BD-48 is $54.90 for three times the cores and memory, shared, on a density-tuned platform. Fleets, stacks and parallel work belong here; a hot database with strict latency belongs there.
What does 'tuned for density' actually mean?
The supplier fits more tenants per host than the classic platform does, which is exactly how the price is possible, and we would rather say so than let you discover it in a benchmark. Bursts are fine; sustained all-core sprints will show the ceiling sooner than on the classic lines. Size up a step — the whole point of this line is that the next step is cheap.
