Who carries the license, city by city.

Three honest states, and every row on this site is in exactly one of them.

Included

The platform's own Windows Server image carries its license, and the Windows price is the Linux price of the same machine plus what the platform adds for it. Athens, Bahrain, Baghdad, Bangkok, Bogota, Buenos Aires and more.

Your own key

Our own Windows Server 2022 Standard image, unactivated: it runs as an evaluation for 180 days and you activate it with your own key whenever you like, or ask us to quote one. Frankfurt, Helsinki, Nuremberg, Ashburn, Hillsboro (OR), Singapore.

By our engineers

On some platforms the Windows option is ordered by a person rather than by our software. The machine still arrives in under an hour with the same Remote Desktop details; what changes is that a password reset there is a support ticket, not a button. Hillsboro (OR), Vint Hill (VA).

Included

Windows Server (licensed where the table says Included, a 180-day evaluation for your own key elsewhere), one dedicated IPv4, Remote Desktop from first boot, power and reinstall from your client area.

Minimum size

4 GB of RAM. Below that Windows swaps, and a machine that cannot be used is not a cheaper machine. The plans listed already clear it.

Not sold

Desktop Windows, Office, SQL Server, extra RDS user licenses, GPU or nested virtualisation, and Windows in cities where the platform has no image. We would rather say so here.

Connecting

Remote Desktop, in three steps.

  1. Step 1

    Open a Remote Desktop client

    On Windows it is already there: press Start and type Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc). On macOS, iPhone, iPad and Android install Microsoft Remote Desktop from the app store. On Linux, Remmina or xfreerdp.

  2. Step 2

    Enter the address from your client area

    The server's IP address is on the service page in your client area, next to the Administrator password. Port 3389 is open from the first boot; there is nothing to enable.

  3. Step 3

    Sign in as Administrator

    Accept the certificate prompt the first time, then sign in as Administrator with the password we set when the machine was built. Change it, run Windows Update, and you are in.

What people ask before they buy.

Is the Windows license included in the price?
It depends on the city, and the License column says which. Where it says Included, the platform's image carries its own license and the Windows price is the Linux price plus what the platform adds. Where it says Your own key, the machine boots our own Windows Server 2022 Standard image, unactivated, as a 180-day evaluation: activate it with your own key, or ask us to quote one. Where it says Per size, the city page marks each size. The licensing page walks through both with real prices.
Which versions and editions?
Windows Server 2022 or 2019, English. The editions the platforms state are Standard and Datacenter; each city page prints the edition beside the size where the platform states one. Clean images: nothing preinstalled beyond Windows, no control panel, no trial software.
How do I connect?
Remote Desktop, port 3389, as Administrator, with the password shown in your client area once the machine is built. It is the password the machine was created with, so it works on the first try; change it after you sign in. There is no browser console on Windows machines, because ours rides on an ssh key.
Can I reset the Administrator password from the client area?
On some platforms, yes, from the service page (the machine restarts briefly to apply it). On the platforms where we build the machine ourselves or a person orders the Windows option, a reset is a support ticket, and on one of them a forgotten password can only be fixed by reinstalling. The city page says which rule applies to each size, so keep the password somewhere safe.
Why is the smallest Windows plan bigger than the smallest Linux plan?
Windows Server needs memory. We do not sell it on anything under 4 GB of RAM, because a Windows machine that spends its life swapping is not a cheaper server, it is an unusable one. Every size on this page has at least 4 GB.
Can I pay by the hour?
In 35 of the 40 cities, yes: the platform bills us by the hour there, so we can bill you by the hour. Deploy, test, destroy, and pay for the hours used. The city table says which; the others are billed by the month because their platform bills us a whole month up front.
Is this good for MetaTrader, forex and trading software?
It is what most people buy it for. MT4, MT5, cTrader and most broker terminals are Windows programs that have to stay running; a Windows VPS keeps them up when your laptop is closed. Pick the city that matches where your broker says its servers are, give it at least 4 GB, and it will run several terminals side by side. Nothing is preinstalled, we do not sell a bundled trading setup, and we do not claim latency figures we have not measured. The forex page sizes it by how many terminals you run.
Do you sell Windows 10 or Windows 11?
No. We sell Windows Server, which has the same desktop, the same Remote Desktop and runs the same programs, and which is what a hosted machine is licensed for. A desktop edition of Windows is not something a hosting platform may license to you, so we do not offer one.
Is there a free trial?
No. What we offer instead is honest: in the cities billed by the hour you can deploy a machine, try it for an hour and destroy it, and pay for that hour.
Can I run Hyper-V, Android emulators or games on it?
No. A VPS has no nested virtualisation and no GPU, so Hyper-V, BlueStacks and similar emulators will not start, and games that need a graphics card will not run. Trading terminals, bots, .NET services, browsers and office software run fine.
What is not included?
Microsoft Office, SQL Server, Remote Desktop Services user licenses for more than the two administrative sessions Windows allows, and any desktop edition of Windows. If your use needs one of those, bring your own license; we will tell you plainly whether it can be installed.
Where can I get Windows, and where can I not?
Windows Server is available in the 40 cities listed on this page; in Asia-Pacific that is Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Dhaka, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Bangkok, Taipei, from $30.90 a month. In every other city we sell in, the platform has no Windows image, and we would rather list fewer cities than sell you a machine the supplier cannot build.
