Order

Build your CS2 server.

This is the same order form as our Cloud VPS page, narrowed to the city you picked above and to sizes with 2 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 65 GB disk or more. It opens on Ubuntu 24.04 and the recommended size, and offers Linux images only. Add it to the cart when the summary says what you want.

Step 01

Choose a size

Sizes are fixed shapes, not sliders. Changing size later is a support request, and a smaller size usually means a new server because a disk cannot shrink.

Step 02

Choose an image

Clean vendor images, nothing preloaded that you did not ask for. You can rebuild onto any other image from the panel at any time.

Every image is the vendor's own, unmodified. If you want the machine configured before you log in, add a start-up script below.

Step 03

Choose a term and add-ons

Terms are prepaid. Annual takes 10% off the same monthly rate — it is a discount for paying up front, not a different product.

Billing term

$56.90 charged every month. Switch to annual at any renewal.

How many

One machine. Each one you add is built separately, with its own address and root password.

Sizes

Which size for your server.

Valve publishes a minimum, not a players-per-size table, so these three sizes are our reading of it: one match server, a community server with plugins, and several servers on one machine. Prices are today's Linux prices, per month, in Riyadh.

What Valve itself says

  • From the CS2 dedicated server page: at least 2 GB of RAM, 65 GB of storage, and an x86-64-v2 processor (with POPCNT and SSE4.2).
  • The dedicated server and the game are one Steam app, 730, and the download is about 60 GB, which is why every size here has a disk of 65 GB or more and no ARM machine is offered.
  • Valve gives no number of players per core or per gigabyte, so we print none. Start on the recommended size and step up if your plugins or your player count need it.

Match server

C2-4-150Recommended

2 vCPU · 4 GB RAM

50 + 100 GB disk · 2 TB transfer

One server for matches, practice or a small community.

Community server

C4-8-150

4 vCPU · 8 GB RAM

50 + 100 GB disk · 4 TB transfer

A community server with plugins, or two servers side by side on different ports.

Several servers

C8-16-350

8 vCPU · 16 GB RAM

50 + 300 GB disk · 5 TB transfer

Several servers on one machine, each on its own port, or plenty of headroom for plugins.

  • Riyadh$190.90

These sizes and prices are for Riyadh. Choose another city in the list above and they change with it. Where a size is built as a system disk plus a data disk, the table shows both, for example 50 + 100 GB.

Set up

Set up a CS2 server on Linux.

These steps follow Valve's own pages for the CS2 dedicated server and SteamCMD, on Ubuntu, the distribution SteamCMD has a package for.

Ubuntu 24.04

  1. Connect. Order the server on Ubuntu 24.04 and sign in over SSH. Every Linux image in the order form meets Valve's glibc 2.31 requirement, but SteamCMD is packaged for Ubuntu.
  2. Install SteamCMD from Ubuntu's multiverse repository, then make a steam user: Valve warns against running SteamCMD as root.sudo add-apt-repository multiverse; sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386; sudo apt updatesudo apt install steamcmdsudo useradd -m steam && sudo -u steam -s
  3. Download CS2. As the steam user, install app 730 anonymously into a folder whose path has no capital letters. Where your size has a separate data disk, it is mounted at /data: make a folder there owned by steam and install into it instead.steamcmd +force_install_dir /home/steam/cs2-ds +login anonymous +app_update 730 validate +quit
  4. Get a token. On Steam's game server account page, create a Game Server Login Token with 730 as the game ID. Without it, nobody else can join.
  5. Start the server from the game folder with cs2.sh, not the binary itself, and your token.cd /home/steam/cs2-ds/game && ./cs2.sh -dedicated +map de_dust2 +sv_setsteamaccount <TOKEN>
  6. Open the ports. If a firewall is running, allow 27015 on TCP and UDP, and 27020 on UDP if you use SourceTV. Players connect to your server's IPv4 address on port 27015.
  7. If it stops on steamclient.so. Valve's fix for "Failed to load module steamclient.so" is to link steamclient.so from SteamCMD's linux64 folder into ~/.steam/sdk64/.

All of this is from Valve's own pages: the CS2 dedicated server guide, SteamCMD and the Source dedicated server page for ports. Read them for anything beyond a first server.

The details

CS2 server hosting, explained.

What a hosted Counter-Strike 2 server is, who it is for, and what you are buying.

What a CS2 dedicated server does

A dedicated server runs Counter-Strike 2 matches without anyone playing on the machine: your maps, your game mode, your settings, your plugins. Teams use one for scrims and practice, communities for a server that is always there under their own name. Valve ships it as part of the game, Steam app 730, and you install it with SteamCMD.

Why a VPS instead of your own PC

A server on a home PC is down whenever that PC is, and it needs ports forwarded on a home router and your home address handed out. A VPS stays on, has its own dedicated IPv4 address, and sits in a data centre in the city you choose, close to your players.

The 60 GB install

The CS2 download is about 60 GB and Valve lists 65 GB of storage, so this page only offers sizes with a disk of at least 65 GB. Every game update is installed again through SteamCMD, so the disk and the monthly transfer in the size table both matter.

Linux, on purpose

Valve lists Linux for the CS2 dedicated server, but not Windows Server, so this page sells Linux and the order form shows Linux images only. You get root over SSH on a dedicated IPv4 address and install the server yourself: this is a self-managed VPS, not a managed game panel.

Price, renewal and payment

The monthly price you order at is the price it renews at, with no setup fee. Prices are in US dollars and taxes, where they apply, are added at checkout. You can pay by card or crypto.

How fast it is online

Servers are usually online in under an hour after the order is paid.

Counter-Strike 2, Steam and SteamCMD belong to Valve. PartVPS is an independent hosting company and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.

Questions

What people ask before they buy one.

Do I need a Game Server Login Token for a CS2 server?
Yes, for anyone else to join it. Valve's guide says other players can join only if the server runs with a Game Server Login Token (GSLT). Create one at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers with 730 as the game ID, and start the server with +sv_setsteamaccount followed by the token.
Which ports does a CS2 server use?
27015 on TCP and UDP for the game, pings and RCON, which you can change with -port, and 27020 on UDP for SourceTV, which you can change with +tv_port. Those are the ports Valve's dedicated server page lists. Allow them through the firewall on the server if one is running.
How much disk does a CS2 server need?
Valve lists 65 GB of storage and says the download is about 60 GB, because the dedicated server and the game client are now one app, ID 730. Every size on this page has a disk of at least 65 GB. Where a size has a separate data disk, it is mounted at /data when the server is delivered: install CS2 there.
Why Linux and not Windows?
Valve lists Windows 10 and 11 and Linux for the CS2 dedicated server. Windows Server, the Windows we sell, is not on that list, and the Windows server also needs the Steam client installed. Linux is on the list (any distribution with glibc 2.31 or newer, so Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11, Enterprise Linux 9 or later), so this page sells Linux and the order form opens on Ubuntu 24.04.
How do I switch to casual, wingman or deathmatch?
The server starts in competitive mode. Valve's page sets the others with game_alias: casual, wingman, deathmatch or custom, then a map change, for example +game_alias deathmatch +map de_dust2 on the start line. -maxplayers sets the number of slots.
How many players does each size hold?
Valve publishes a minimum of 2 GB of RAM and an x86-64-v2 processor, but no players-per-core figure, so this page prints none. The recommended size has twice that memory for one server; the larger sizes are for plugins or several servers on one machine, each on its own port.
How do I update the server when CS2 updates?
Run the same SteamCMD command again with app_update 730: Valve's guide says the download steps are needed every time the game is updated. Stop the server, update, and start it again with the same line.
Can I pay with crypto?
Yes: card or cryptocurrency (USDT, Bitcoin or Ethereum), and the server costs the same either way. Paying in crypto adds a payment fee of $1 and 5% to the invoice, which the payment page shows before you send anything. Whichever you use, the monthly price renews at the same figure.
