Backups that run without you

Automated daily backups are on from the first minute and included in the price. You do not configure them, and you do not find out they were off when you need one.

No kernel, no patch window

Engine updates and host security are handled underneath you. There is no operating system in your account to forget about, which is the part of self-hosting that quietly goes wrong.

A price that stays still

The renewal figure equals the order figure. No introductory rate, no year-two jump, on databases exactly as on everything else we sell.

A managed database is a good deal when your time is worth more than the difference. Sometimes it is not.

A small PostgreSQL beside your application on one VPS is cheaper and perfectly sound for a personal project, a staging environment, or anything where an hour of downtime is an inconvenience rather than a bill. Buy managed when the database is the thing you cannot afford to lose, when nobody on the team wants to own backups, or when the application and the database need to scale apart.

What people ask before ordering.

What does managed actually mean here?

You get a database endpoint, a user and a password — not a server. Patching the engine, taking backups, replacing failed hardware and keeping the host secure are ours. Schema design, indexes, query performance and what your application does with the connection stay yours. If you would rather own all of it, run PostgreSQL yourself on a VPS; that is cheaper and entirely reasonable when you have someone to look after it.

PostgreSQL or MySQL?

Both are offered and both are good. Pick PostgreSQL if you want stricter typing, richer indexing, JSONB, window functions and extensions like PostGIS. Pick MySQL if your framework, ORM or hosting stack already assumes it, or if your team knows it better — an engine your people can debug at 3am beats a technically superior one they cannot.

Are backups included, and can I restore to a point in time?

Automated backups are on by default and included in the price shown. Restores are handled by support today rather than a self-service button in the portal — open a ticket with the time you want to land on and we do it. We would rather say that plainly than advertise a restore button that does not exist yet.

Can I connect from a server I host elsewhere?

Yes. The endpoint is reachable over the public internet and speaks the standard protocol, so any client, ORM or hosting provider can reach it. Latency is the thing to think about: a database in Paris and an application in Sydney will feel every round trip, so put them in the same city where you can.

What happens to the price at renewal?

Nothing. The figure on this page is what you pay in month one and every month after. We do not run introductory pricing that steps up later — the everyday price is the price, on databases exactly as on servers.

Can I resize later?

Moving to a larger plan is a support request rather than a portal button at the moment, and it involves a short restart. Size for the load you expect within a few months rather than the load you have on launch day, and you will rarely need it.
