Sizes are fixed shapes, not sliders. Changing size later is a support request, and a smaller size usually means a new server because a disk cannot shrink.

Clean vendor images, nothing preloaded that you did not ask for. You can rebuild onto any other image from the panel at any time.

If you run one EA without DLLs on one account, MetaQuotes' own hosting is simpler and cheaper, and you should use it. A Windows Server VPS is for everything past that: several accounts or brokers, EAs that need DLLs, scripts, a trade copier, or other trading software beside MT5.

Set up

From delivery to a running EA.

Done once, in this order. Setup help is available on request through a ticket.

  1. Connect. Open Remote Desktop and sign in as Administrator with the address and password from your delivery email.
  2. Install MT5 from your broker. Download MetaTrader 5 from your broker's website, install it and sign in to your trading account. The broker's build already lists its trade servers.
  3. Add your EA. In MT5 open File › Open Data Folder, put your expert advisor in MQL5\Experts, then refresh the Navigator and drag the EA onto its chart.
  4. Allow it to trade. Press Algo Trading on the toolbar. In Tools › Options › Expert Advisors, allow algorithmic trading, and allow DLL imports only if your EA needs them.
  5. Start by itself. Put an MT5 shortcut in the Startup folder (shell:startup in the Run box) and turn on automatic sign-in, for example with Microsoft's Autologon tool, so MT5 is back after a restart.
  6. Plan the reboots. In Windows Update, set active hours to the hours you trade, so a restart lands when the market does not need you.
  7. Leave the right way. Close the Remote Desktop window to disconnect. Signing out ends every program in the session, MT5 included.

The distance that matters is to your broker's server, which we do not know. Read the ping in MT5 and compare cities on an hourly server if you need to.

A VPS keeps your terminal on and connected. It does not make trades profitable or remove the risk in trading.

What traders ask before they buy one.

Which city should I choose for MT5?
The one closest to your broker's MT5 trade server. Brokers say where their servers are, and their support will tell you if the site does not. Once MT5 is running, the ping to the broker is shown in the bottom-right corner of the terminal: that is the number that matters, and you can compare two cities on an hourly server before you settle. We do not publish latency figures we have not measured.
How much CPU and RAM does MetaTrader 5 need on a VPS?
One terminal with a few expert advisors is comfortable on 2 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM. Several terminals, or several broker accounts, want 4 vCPU and 8 GB of RAM. Strategy Tester optimisation is the one job that eats cores: MT5 creates one local testing agent per logical core and runs each optimisation pass on its own agent, so more cores finish an optimisation sooner. Memory decides how many terminals you can keep open; cores decide how fast you optimise.
Can my expert advisor use DLLs?
Yes. This is your own Windows Server, so an EA that imports a DLL runs as it does on your desktop once you allow DLL imports in MT5's options. MetaQuotes' own built-in hosting forbids DLL calls and stops any program that makes one.
How is this different from the VPS built into MetaTrader 5?
MetaQuotes' built-in hosting moves a copy of one terminal to their server: one trading account per rented terminal, up to 32 charts with expert advisors (16 on free hosting), no DLLs, scripts not moved, and no access to the server's desktop. It is advertised from $15 a month. Here you get a whole Windows Server over Remote Desktop: as many terminals and accounts as the memory holds, DLLs, scripts and any other Windows program. If you run one EA without DLLs on one account, MetaQuotes' hosting is simpler and cheaper, and we would say so.
Can I run several MT5 accounts or brokers on one VPS?
Yes. Each MT5 installation is its own folder, so two brokers, or two accounts at one broker, are two installations and two shortcuts. Size by the number of terminals you keep open, not by the number of charts.
Does MT5 keep running when I close Remote Desktop?
Yes. Closing the Remote Desktop window disconnects your session and leaves MT5 running. Signing out ends it. Put MT5 in the Startup folder and turn on automatic sign-in so it starts again by itself after a Windows Update restart.
Is MetaTrader 5 preinstalled?
No. The server arrives as a clean Windows Server 2022. Download MT5 from your broker's website, because the broker's build already knows its trade servers, and install it as you would on a desktop. We never ask for your trading password or your 2FA codes.
Is the Windows license included?
Yes, the Windows Server license is in the price of every size the cards quote.
Can I try it before paying for a month?
In cities billed by the hour, yes: deploy a server, run MT5 for an evening, destroy it and pay for those hours. The order form shows whether the city you picked bills by the hour.
Can I pay with crypto?
Yes: card or cryptocurrency (USDT, Bitcoin or Ethereum), and the server costs the same either way. Paying in crypto adds a payment fee of $1 and 5% to the invoice, which the payment page shows before you send anything. Whichever you use, the monthly price renews at the same figure.
Does a VPS guarantee my trades?
No hosting does. A VPS keeps your terminal on and connected; it does not make trades profitable or remove the risk in trading.
