The High frequency line trades nothing away except price: same shared-core model, faster hosts, roughly twice the disk per gigabyte of RAM. HF-2 is for small workloads where one thread does the important work and finishing it sooner is what you are paying for.

HF-2 is a self-managed server. The list on the right is not a gap we intend to fill later — it is the other product.

In the price

  • Full root access on a KVM virtual machine with its own kernel
  • One dedicated IPv4 for the life of the server, plus a /64 of IPv6
  • Local NVMe attached to the host, with no storage network in between
  • On-demand snapshots, free to take, restorable in place or into another region
  • Browser console straight to the machine for when SSH is the thing that broke
  • Rebuild onto any image in about a minute, keeping the same IP address
  • Private networking inside a region that does not count against transfer
  • Resize up in place; the same REST API the control panel uses

Not in the price

  • Nobody patches the operating system but you — this is a self-managed server
  • No Windows images: every image we ship is Linux
  • We do not resell control panel licences (cPanel, Plesk or otherwise)
  • A host failure is a restore from your latest snapshot or backup, not a live migration
  • Regions cannot be changed in place; moving means a new server and a DNS cutover
  • Prepaid terms are not pro-rated if you destroy the server early

A latency-sensitive API
Request handling that is single-threaded per request benefits from clock speed far more than from another core.
A small game or voice server
Most game loops are one hot thread. Clock speed is the specification that matters, and 64 GB of disk covers maps and recordings.
A build or lint runner
Short, sharp jobs that are over faster on a quicker core, without paying for pinned cores you use for two minutes an hour.

Line

HF-2 sits on the High frequency line. Cores on this line are shared with other tenants on the same host. Bursts are quick; an hour pinned at 100% is not something a shared core can promise.

How much faster is 'high frequency'?
It depends on the workload and on the host generation in that region, so we do not publish a multiplier we cannot stand behind. Ask support which host type serves the region you want and benchmark your own workload — that is the only figure worth trusting.
Are these cores still shared?
Yes. High frequency means faster physical cores, not exclusive ones. Only the Dedicated CPU line reserves cores for you.
