A VPS for Claude Code

A Linux VPS with 4 GB of memory or more, Anthropic's stated minimum for Claude Code, on Ubuntu or Debian, from $11.90 a month or $0.0218 an hour, in 72 cities. Install Claude Code with one command, sign in with your own Claude plan, and it works on the server, not on your laptop.

  • from $11.90/mo
  • or $0.0218/hr
  • 72 cities
  • Ubuntu or Debian
  • full root
  • dedicated IPv4

Prices and cities are read from the catalogue the cart charges from. Claude Code's requirements checked against Anthropic's documentation on 21 October 2026.

Step 01

Choose the city

Close to you for a snappy terminal, or close to the services your code talks to. Each card shows that city's lowest price for a size with 4 GB or more.

Steps 02 to 05

Build your server in Singapore.

The line and the size first, then Ubuntu or Debian, then the add-ons. Every size here has at least 4 GB of memory, and the summary shows the price the cart charges.

Step 02

Pick a line

The most cores, RAM and disk per dollar in the catalogue, with a 32 TB monthly allowance.

Step 03

Choose a size

Sizes are fixed shapes, not sliders. Changing size later is a support request, and a smaller size usually means a new server because a disk cannot shrink.

Step 04

Choose an image

Clean vendor images, nothing preloaded that you did not ask for. You can rebuild onto any other image from the panel at any time.

Every image is the vendor's own, unmodified. If you want the machine configured before you log in, add a start-up script below.

Step 05

Choose a term and add-ons

Terms are prepaid. Annual takes 10% off the same monthly rate — it is a discount for paying up front, not a different product.

Billing term

$18.90 charged every month. Switch to annual at any renewal.

How many

One machine. Each one you add is built separately, with its own address and root password.

Not available on BD-8 in Singapore — its supplier has no nightly backup service we can switch on for this machine. Take your own backups off the box, or pick a machine that has them.

The form shows the smaller sizes of each line. Every size in Singapore

Our suggestion: 8 GB when Claude also runs your builds, tests or containers on the server; Claude Code itself is the light part.

Setup

From a new server to Claude at work, in five steps.

The commands are Anthropic's, except where a step says it is our suggestion.

  1. 01Connect

Your service page shows the address and the exact ssh command once the server is online.

    ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP
  2. 02Add the tools and a normal userOur suggestion

As root (if your service page shows another user, run sudo -i first). Claude Code's flag for skipping permission prompts refuses to run as root, and a separate user keeps your projects apart from the system.

apt update && apt install -y curl tmux sudo adduser dev && usermod -aG sudo dev su - dev
  3. 03Install Claude Code

Anthropic's installer, as the new user. It needs no Node.js and updates itself in the background; claude doctor checks the install.

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash claude --version
  4. 04Keep the session when you disconnectOur suggestion

Start Claude inside tmux and it keeps working after SSH drops: leave with Ctrl-b then d, come back with tmux attach -t claude.

    tmux new -s claude
  5. 05Sign in

Run claude and choose your account. With no browser on the server, press c to copy the sign-in link, open it on your own computer and paste the code back.

    claude

For scripts and jobs with nobody at the keyboard: claude setup-token makes a one-year sign-in token (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans) that you set as CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN, or set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY with a key from the Claude Console.

Working alone

Leaving Claude to work on its own, safely.

  • Run a job without a terminal. claude -p "Run the test suite and fix any failures" --allowedTools "Bash,Read,Edit" prints the result and exits, with text, JSON or streamed JSON output. Without an allowed-tools list, a step that needs approval is refused instead of waiting.
  • Skipping the prompts is for isolated machines. Anthropic says bypassPermissions belongs in isolated containers and VMs only; it refuses to start as root. Our advice: a server of its own for this, holding no keys to your other servers.
  • Your sign-in lives on the server. On Linux it is kept in ~/.claude/.credentials.json with file mode 0600, readable by that user and by root. Rebuilding the server erases it with the disk.
  • Your transcripts stay on it too. Claude Code keeps session transcripts in plain text under ~/.claude/projects/ for 30 days by default, so you can resume them; the cleanupPeriodDays setting changes that.
  • Training. Anthropic states that under commercial terms (Team and Enterprise plans and the API) it does not train models on code or prompts sent to Claude Code. On Free, Pro and Max plans your Claude privacy setting decides.

Questions

What people ask before they put Claude Code on a VPS.

Does the VPS come with Claude Code or a Claude plan?
No. We sell the server. You install Claude Code with Anthropic's one-line installer and sign in with your own Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, or a Claude Console account. Anthropic states that the free Claude plan does not include Claude Code.
How much memory does Claude Code need?
Anthropic lists 4 GB of RAM or more and an x64 or ARM64 processor. Every size on this page has at least 4 GB. Our suggestion is 8 GB when Claude also runs your builds, tests or containers on the same server, because those use more memory than Claude Code itself.
Which Linux does Claude Code support?
Anthropic lists Ubuntu 20.04 or newer and Debian 10 or newer, among others. We build Ubuntu 26.04, 24.04 and 22.04 LTS and Debian 13 and 12, and the form opens on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
How do I sign in when the server has no browser?
Run claude and choose your account. When no browser opens, press c to copy the sign-in link, open it on your own computer, and paste the code it shows back into the server. For scripts, claude setup-token makes a one-year token for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, or you can use an API key from the Claude Console.
Can it keep working when my computer is off?
Yes. Claude Code runs on the server, so your laptop can sleep. Start it inside tmux and you can disconnect and come back to the same session (our suggestion; Anthropic's docs do not cover tmux), or run a job with claude -p from a script.
Is it safe to skip the permission prompts on a VPS?
Anthropic says bypassPermissions belongs in isolated containers and VMs only, and the flag that turns it on refuses to run as root. Our advice: if you use it, work as a normal user on a server that holds nothing you could not lose, and keep the keys to your other servers off it.
Does Anthropic train on the code I work on?
Anthropic states that under commercial terms (Team and Enterprise plans and the API) it does not train models on code or prompts sent to Claude Code. On Free, Pro and Max plans it depends on your Claude privacy setting.
Can I use an API key instead of a subscription?
Yes. Set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY with a key from the Claude Console; in non-interactive runs with claude -p the key is always used when it is present. Remote Control needs a claude.ai sign-in and does not work with an API key.
Can I pay with crypto?
Yes: card or cryptocurrency (USDT, Bitcoin or Ethereum), and the server costs the same either way. Paying in crypto adds a payment fee of $1 and 5% to the invoice, which the payment page shows before you send anything. Whichever you use, the monthly price renews at the same figure.
