DS-9 is the machine for workloads where the traffic is the product. The Xeon E-2136 is a six-core, twelve-thread part with high boost clocks — enough compute to produce the bytes that the unmetered gigabit port then moves for a flat price. With 32 GB of ECC memory and mirrored NVMe behind it, it is the largest of the three US machines and the only one on a full-gigabit port.

About DS-9 specifically.

How much traffic can I actually move?
There is no allowance to exhaust and no overage billing — the 1 Gbit port is the only ceiling. Flat out, a gigabit port moves on the order of 300 TB in a month; real workloads are burstier than that, which is fine, because nothing is counting.
DS-9 or DS-1 in Europe?
Pick the continent first: traffic is unmetered on both, so the deciding fact is where your users are. On the machines themselves, DS-1 is far more server for more money — twenty threads, 64 GB and NVMe at $133.90 a month — while DS-9 is $54.90 for four older cores and SATA disks. If the workload is mostly bytes rather than compute, DS-9 does the job for a fraction of the price.
Why does the US lineup stop at 32 GB?
Because that is what the supplier builds at these prices, and we would rather list three machines we can deliver than a longer page we cannot. If you need more memory in the United States, tell support what the workload is; if Europe works, the lineup there goes to 256 GB.
