Windows in Johannesburg

Versions, licensing, delivery.

Versions

Windows Server 2022 or 2019, English, your choice in the configurator. A clean image with nothing preinstalled beyond Windows itself.

License

Included on every size here: the platform's image carries its own Windows Server Standard license, so the Windows price is the Linux price.

Delivery

Online in under an hour, built automatically. Remote Desktop on port 3389 from the first boot, Administrator password in your client area. Hourly billing on the sizes marked with an hourly price.

Why Johannesburg

Why traders pick Johannesburg.

Johannesburg is the financial centre of South Africa, home to many of the region's brokers and traders. We have not found a public statement placing a broker's trade servers inside Johannesburg itself, so we do not make that claim: choose Johannesburg because you or your broker are in Southern Africa, and check the broker's own server list before you buy.

We do not publish latency figures we have not measured, and the city you choose does not change what the machine is: check your broker's own server list, then pick the city it names. Hosting does not guarantee trading results.

What runs here

Windows programs, nothing preinstalled.

Terminals

MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader, NinjaTrader, TradingView desktop and most broker terminals are Windows programs. They install from your broker exactly as on a desktop.

Expert advisors and copiers

Your EA, your indicators, your trade copier: yours to install, in your own account. MetaTrader and your EA are not preinstalled, and we never ask for a trading password, a 2FA code or a withdrawal key.

Keep it running

Put the terminal in the Startup folder, close the Remote Desktop window instead of signing out, and set Windows Update's active hours to the hours you trade so the restart lands outside them.

Questions

Before you buy a trading VPS in Johannesburg.

How much does a forex VPS in Johannesburg cost?

From $30.90 a month for C2-4-50S (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM), with the Windows Server license included in that price. The figure on this page is the figure the cart charges, and the price you order at is the price it renews at.

Which size do I need for MetaTrader in Johannesburg?

One MT4 or MT5 terminal with a couple of expert advisors is comfortable on 2 vCPU and 4 GB (C2-4-50S, $30.90 a month in Johannesburg). Several terminals, or one terminal running many EAs and indicators at once, want 4 vCPU and 8 GB (C4-8-50S, $59.90). A terminal itself is light; what grows is the number of them and the charts each one keeps open.

Is MetaTrader preinstalled?

No. The machine arrives as a clean Windows Server. You sign in over Remote Desktop, download MT4, MT5 or cTrader from your broker, and install your EA the way you would on a desktop. Setup help is available on request through a ticket; we do not sell a bundled trading setup.

Which Windows versions can I choose in Johannesburg?

Windows Server 2022 or 2019, English. You pick the version in the configurator; a clean image with nothing preinstalled beyond Windows itself.

Is the license really included?

Yes. On the platform that builds our Johannesburg machines the Windows Server image carries its own licensing, and we pay the same for a Windows machine as for a Linux one. That is why the price here matches the Linux price for the same size. It is a Standard edition server license, activated by the platform; it is not a desktop Windows and it does not include Office or RDS user CALs.

Can I pay by the hour in Johannesburg?

Yes. Every size here can be billed by the hour, from $0.0529/hr: deploy, run your terminal for an evening, destroy it and pay for those hours.
