Managed hosting

You run the business. We run the server it sits on.

Your website stays up, stays patched, stays backed up, and stays somebody else's problem at three in the morning. From $29 a month, with the server included in the price.

Plans

Three starting points.

Each price includes the server, the work and the support. We agree the right tier with you before anything is set up — managed hosting is not something we let you buy blind.

Why there is no “add to cart” here. Managed hosting starts with us looking at what you already have — where the site runs now, what it is built on, how much traffic it takes and when it can be moved. Selling it through a checkout would mean guessing at all four. Send us the details and you will get a straight answer, including “you do not need this tier” when that is the honest one.

What we take on

Six jobs that stop being yours.

None of this is optional work — it is what keeps a site online. The only question is who does it.

A wall of blue status LEDs on stacked equipment, receding into the dark
Updates, without the fear
We apply operating system and stack updates, then check the site still works. If an update breaks something, we roll it back — you find out from our note, not from a customer.
Backups that have been restored
A backup nobody has ever restored is a rumour. We take them nightly and we practise putting them back, on a schedule, and send you the result.
Someone watching at 3am
Uptime and error-rate checks run continuously. When one trips, an engineer is paged. You do not have to be the monitoring system.
Moving your site in
We copy the site, run it on the new server behind a private address until it behaves, and then agree a cutover time with you. No 'upload your files here'.
Security patching
Published vulnerabilities in the software we manage are patched on a clock, not when someone gets around to it. Firewall and access rules are ours to keep tight.
A person who answers
Support goes to the engineers who run the platform. There is no scripted first line asking whether you have tried turning it off and on again.

Managed or self-managed

The honest version of the difference.

A self-managed server is cheaper and gives you total control. It also gives you a second job. Here is the same list of work, twice.

If the left column reads like a normal Tuesday to you, buy the self-managed server and keep the difference. We would rather sell you the cheaper thing than the wrong thing.

Questions

Asked in plain language, answered the same way.

Do I need to understand servers to buy this?
No. That is the entire point of the product. You tell us what the site is and where it lives now; we handle everything from there and write to you in plain language when something needs a decision.
I already have a website somewhere else. What happens to it?

We move it for you. First we take a copy and run it on your new server behind a private address, so we can check it works before anything changes for your visitors. Then we agree a cutover time with you and switch the domain over.

Visitors normally see no interruption. If your site takes payments, we usually pick a quiet hour anyway.

What counts as one website?
One domain and the software behind it, plus its staging copy where the plan includes one. A shop and a separate blog on a different domain are two. If you are not sure how your setup counts, ask — we would rather answer that before you pay than after.
Can I still get into the server myself?
Yes, on request. We will give you access and we will keep managing the server. The only thing we ask is that you tell us before making changes, so an update of ours does not land on top of a change of yours.
What if I outgrow the plan?
We move you to the next tier in place — no rebuild, no migration fee, no downtime. The difference appears on your next invoice. We will usually notice and suggest it before you do.
Am I locked in?
No. Billing is monthly and you can stop at any renewal. If you leave, you get a full copy of the site files and the database, and help pointing the domain wherever you are going. Exit is a normal request, not an argument.
